Security on Roambi for iPhone

Postby jmallet on June 28th, 2010, 11:51 pm

Hi,

I am currently testing Roambi as a potential solution for one of a customer. It is a great product.

My current concern is security. If I understood correctly, reports are sent by email. Emails can be easily forwarded.
Since most users have their email account password saved in their iPhone to login automatically, what happens if one of them got his phone stolen ? Especially regarding the data that is stored locally on the phone.

I would also like to know more about the "Device Lock-Out", "Remote Wipe", "Remote File Delete", "Offline Pin" features included in the ES3 version.

Thanks in advance.

Hello J,

Actually, not all all reports/views are sent via email. Depending on whether or not you have Lite, Pro, or the ES version, there are other methods to obtain/download a Roambi view. It's best if you utilize security features already available on the iPhone (such as password protect, etc) in case of a lost/missing phone. With regards to features such as 'Device Lock-Out, Remote-wipe, etc' - these features will soon be available for the ES version. Please let me know if you need further clarification!

Best regards,

Hi AJ,

Could you tell me about the other methods than email to obtain and download Roambi views please ?
The security is crucial as we are dealing with confidential data.

Hello J,

Sure thing. With the Pro version of Roambi, there's a 'Shared' directory/folder where you can publish your Roambi view(s) to and registered users can simply navigate to that folder (from their device) and 'cherry-pick' specific views (if not all) to download to their phone/device. The ES version offers a similar method - but the user would navigate to a folder/directory in a folder they have access to....

I hope this helps!
